Jun originally joined Best Hooper’s town planning practice in August 2019 as a law graduate, having completed his Juris Doctor at Monash University in 2018. He also holds a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Melbourne.
Prior to returning to Best Hooper in April 2023, Jun practiced as a planning and environment lawyer at a national law firm. Before coming to the legal field, he worked as a town planner for over 10 years with an inner-city council, where he held the position of Planning Appeals Coordinator.
Jun is a native Mandarin speaker.
Jun has extensive experience advising and advocating for both developer clients (across all scales) and government clients in a broad range of planning and building matters, including:
- VCAT appeals, including appearances before VCAT;
- Due diligence advice and planning application strategy;
- Provision of legal advice;
- Preparation of section 173 agreements;
- Advice on restrictive covenants, including applications to the Supreme Court of Victoria for amendment or removal;
- Planning scheme amendments, including appearances before Planning Panels Victoria;
- Building matters, such as report and consent, protection work notices, and building orders, including appearances before the Building Appeals Board.
Jun was recognised in 2022 Doyle’s Guide as a “Rising Star” in the Planning and Environment Law category. Most recently, he was recognised by Best Lawyers as ‘One to Watch’ for 2025 and 2026.
